Brelsford home intruder halted by residents and sheriff
Monday night the Brelsford family woke to a prowler in the house. Cecil Brelsford chased the suspect, Denver Powell colored, to the side door. Powell fled as Charles Warder aided, and Sheriff Kinkead took Powell to jail. The incident follows months of attempted robberies in the same home. The Lexington Savings Bank today installed a seven ton Corliss ware safe made by the Mosler Company of Hamilton Ohio. The 16 inch thick door and gun metal body provide a large interior capacity. Believed burglar proof, the safe is designed to be impervious to old exploits and is touted as the latest invention in secure safes.

Funeral services for Mrs Bauerle at Catholic church
The funeral services for Mrs Otto Baverle who died Thursday morning at her home will be held Saturday morning at the Catholic church with Father Curry officiating. Interment will be in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs Baverle suffered from consumption and died at age twenty six, leaving a husband and three children aged six, five, and nine months.

Grats brothers depart for Kansas City to stock New Store
Louis and Ben Grats left Thursday at 10 33 am by train to Kansas City and then New York to buy full lines of stock. Through correspondence they are assured a complete equipment despite late orders. The firm plans to carry existing linen and open the new store March 1 with a wide stock. Building work is proceeding to ready the store by opening.

Lexington Postoffice stamp sales to fund free delivery
For several years stamp sales at Lexington postoffice climbed and last year fell about 685 short of the level needed for free delivery. With a month and a half left in the postal year, current sales promise fulfillment of that requirement. The city council has discussed renumbering houses and sidewalk improvements to aid the petition for free delivery, which urban businessmen see little direct benefit from but would greatly convenience residents.

Death of Col. Reddington in Nevada Missouri
Odessa Democrat reports Col. Dave Reddington died in Nevada Missouri on Saturday January 26 1907 at age 92. One of the state s oldest men he had spent the last year in an asylum. He came to Odessa in 1879 and in 1883 founded The Democrat. He built a cemetery vault where the reposing were placed last Sunday. No known relatives. he had been away from Odessa for twenty years, leaving his later history unclear.
