The Sterling Price Chapter No 213 UDC will hold its annual Robert E Lee memorial services this evening in the City Hall auditorium. Dr Patillo will give the address as part of an arranged program featuring invocations, music, readings, and announcements honoring the Confederate general.

Vivion Declines Democratic House Candidacy

Clarence Vivion announced he will not enter the Democratic primary for representative of the district. He cited the primary system as giving incumbents a strong advantage and noted the convention system would tempt him to run, but the current system makes a campaign impractical. His record as Lafayette County prosecutor and criminal circuit practitioner had made him a strong local favorite.

Death of Mrs Mary L Smithers widow of John A Smithers

Mrs Mary L Smithers widow of the late John A Smithers of St Louis died at the home of her daughter Mrs T Stramcke on East Mais street Saturday night after a lingering illness. She left behind two sons John A and M L of St Louis and two daughters Mrs J H Evill and Mrs T T Strancke. Remains were taken to St Louis for burial with family members traveling to accompany.

Word reached Saturday that J C McGrew of this city wed Ming Claire Pelligrini Wednesday January 5 in Montgomery Alabama. The quiet home ceremony at the bride's mother's house united the Lexington Missouri man with the Missouri capitalist. The Rev Father Savage officiated. The bride wore broadcloth with an imported hat and carried bride roses. McGrew, a prominent capitalist with interests in Missouri, departed for a trip to New York and other western points.

Lewis Cox Dead in Dover Township

Turkey Shoot Draws Builders Of Sportsmen At Farm

J W Bartley organized a turkey shoot at John Stusher's farm on Wednesday attracting sportsmen from Lexington Dover and nearby areas. Bartley claimed 45 turkeys as prizes while Sheriff Chas Kinkead won the best car prize with a blue rack shooting. Drowned in Lard Can Claim Fatal Kitchen Accident

In a moonlit kitchen on Highland Avenue a 13 month old girl, Helen Clementine Morton, fell into a lard can filled with two inches of water and drowned. Mrs. Morton, in the midst of dinner preparations, found the child head downward minutes later and efforts to save her failed. The family remains bereaved as relatives assist.
