Adam Walk Sr a German born pioneer who arrived in 1850 and settled in Lexington passed away Friday night at 10 30 pm from pneumonia after a bout with grip He was a former city council member Baptist church member and widely respected in the community His family living in Colorado arrived to be with him and his death marked the end of a long life of service and faith

After ceremonies, members adjourned to Hinesley’s for an oyster feast honoring Capt. W. T. Belin training cadets at Wentworth Military Academy. The Lexington Historical Society received copies of civic chronicles and a further manuscript from J. M. Valghan in Missouri.

Pioneer Hauck Remains Reinterred in Machpelah Cemetery
Historical county graveyard records show 907 interments with 106 total burials, the oldest 84 and two reaching that age. Deaths skewed toward younger years in the latter half of the year. The remains of Felix Hauck, born 1771 and died 1844, were removed from a family plot and reinterred, marking an early county pioneer move.
