An Old Deed From 1849 Recorded In County

Recorder H. W. McNeel received a deed for 40 acres in the western part of the county from Joshua Campbell to William A. Renick. The instrument bears the date October 15, 1849. Campbell and Renick are long deceased but their descendants, including Renick and Campbell families, remain prominent in the area.

Central College Reception Pleases Attendees

Central College hosted a Monday reception that drew a good crowd. The halls were simply but tastefully decorated and attendees mingled freely. Refreshments included ice cream and cake as young people enjoyed conversations.

Pinochle Night At Elk Lodge Guests Supper Event

Pinochle enthusiasts at the Elk lodge held a pigeon supper in the Elke home lower parlors with Brets preparing the pie and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tribble serving. Six pinochle tables filled as thirty Elks attended the evening event.

John T King Dead in Arkansas Home

Telegram reports the death of John T King at his Little Rock home on Wednesday morning. He was a brother-in-law to Mr Sellers and had many local acquaintances. He leaves a widow and four children.

Gordon Eyes State Auditor Race in Missouri

John P. Gordon of this city seeks the state auditor position at the urging of friends. He has long worked for Huxton-Skinner Stationery and is active in the Missouri Drummers Association. Petitions circulate statewide with Lexington support from Jas Drummond. Senator Bradley of Farmington is the only other declared candidate. Gordon’s prospects look favorable.
