The Cotillion Club held its first dance at the Elks Home on Wednesday with about 40 couples. Cadet Doty and Miss Nancy Huston led the Grand March at 10 oclock, featuring colonial lighting and the pretty In the Gloaming waltz. The military dance by Wentworths Academy officers, arranged by Miss Huston, drew repeated performances. Chaperone quadrille and rologial costumes delighted attendees while Capt Day's orchestra provided music. Guests included Miss Vivien Dobyns, Miss Rose Crisp, Miss Alston, Mr Ray De Vasher, and Miss Barnes.

Man Attempts Suicide at Valley Mines Then Requests Help
Wednesday night at the Valley mines Herman Hoagian attempted self harm by cutting his throat and neck with a pocket knife but failed. He handed the weapon to Knute Hurgland asking him to finish the act, who declined and summoned a surgeon. Dr Ryland treated the wound which was not serious. Authorities fear his mind is affected by excessive drinking.
