Lexington council approves Sixteenth Street paving ordinance
Lexington city council in regular session Monday night passed a major ordinance to pave Sixteenth street from South to State streets with a twenty four foot roadway and sidewalk area. The move follows sewer installation improving conditions formerly worsened by the sewer project. All councilmen voted for the measure amid praise from The Intelligencer. Reports from the Police Judge and city treasurer were read and filed. The claims committee chair Buellens presented the monthly claims report, approved and ordered paid. Young German Sentenced and Paroled in Forgery Case

Odessa men plead guilty in Lafayette County court
The Lafayette County Criminal Court met Monday disposing of cases. Wm Keith of Odessa pled guilty to drawing a gun in a threatening manner and fined $100 with a ninety day stay of execution. George Bryan of Odessa pled guilty in seven of twenty liquor selling counts, fined $40 and costs, remaining cases dismissed at defendant’s cost.

Miners Rally Demands After Indianapolis Convention
Louis Miner, Thos Rosewall, W A Ford, John Gueguen, Pat McConnell and James Goodman, delegates to the International Miners Convention from the local union, returned Thursday night from Indianapolis where the convention was held. They demand a 10 percent increase in mining pay, 20 percent rise for dead and day work, and a weekly pay day. Local inequalities will be referred to the respective districts for settlement. The convention urged continued work pending a new contract. A re adjustment meeting is set for February 8 in Mobile Alabama between central field officers and the miners. The miners are optimistic an early settlement will follow.
