David P Groves died Wednesday evening at 12 15 at his home 1615 Franklin Avenue after over two years of ill health He was born in May 1850 in this county son of David and Elizabeth Groves educated in Lafayette County and Spaulding's Business College Kansas City He worked as bookkeeper then farmer devoted to fine stock and shorthorns He married Ida Catron in 1877 and had four sons and a daughter Gordon Amarillo W L Emmet A Roscoe Kansas City J Reid Ryland Birmingham Alabama He was a Methodist and active family man The funeral was held Thursday at the Methodist church at 2 30 led by Rev M Davenport

The Argonia literary society staged The Girls of 1776 in Murrell hall on Monday. The play about Revolutionary times drew applause as each young lady delivered her part with accuracy and charm.
