Kansas City society notes announce the engagement of Grace King to Varl Taggart Stier of Lexington. Stier, a leading local merchant, is a Wentworth graduate of 1901 who built the Stier Clothing Company. The wedding is slated for late January amid Lexington social circles.
The residence of M. D. Wilson on Washington Avenue was damaged by a Monday fire around ten o'clock. The blaze began in the bathroom and caused about $500 in damage. Quick actions by the fire department prevented total destruction of the house.
Walter Tunis was brought to Lexington from Dover on Wednesday and jailed on a charge of stealing Dr. Harwood's Ford. He drove the car several miles into the countryside before abandoning it and was later apprehended in Jefferson City.
EB. M. Taubman spent yesterday in Kansas City on business. Mrs. W. R. Eckle went to Kansas City Wednesday for a visit.
Thomas Gibbons a former resident and merchant of this city died at his St. Louis home Saturday noon. The body arrived in Lexington Monday and was taken to Peter O Malley’s home. The funeral conducted by Father George Curry was held at the Catholic church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.
Mr and Mrs James R Moorehead Sr of Kansas City and daughter Mrs B H Schafer with two children arrive Saturday for a few days visit with Mr and Mrs James R Moorehead Jr
John George Patterson died yesterday at 8:15 A.M. at his brother in law's home after a long illness of complications. Born in England about 28 years ago, his parents moved to this country when he was six months old. He is survived by his father and a sister, Mrs. John T. Bell.
Wm Aull Jr. traveled to Kansas City yesterday to attend to legal business and conduct official duties. He planned to return the same day after completing matters of law and related engagements.
Thursday night about 9 20 p m Mike Genoske a shoe repair shop operator on Franklin heard a cry for help and found two men scuffling He fired hitting one man Warren Johnson fire chief in the back The wounded man was taken Friday morning to St Marys Hospital in Kansas City Howard Field was the other man involved.
Mrs BE Forster and Mrs Elias Diamond of Toronto visited Mrs Forster’s son J F Forster in Malta Bend. They traveled there Tuesday for the visit and sightseeing with the family.
