Lexington Chapter No 10 Royal Arch Masons entertained the Grand High Priest and dignitaries in a special convocation. The event included conferring the Mark Master and Past Master degrees by Mt. Beverly Arnold a colored woman was taken to Kansas City by a deputy US marshal to answer a charge of forging Matilda Matthew's signature on a three dollar money order. She received the letter at the post office opened it and cashed the order. Byxit Arnold.

Boy Run Over and Killed Near McGrew Mine
Jesse Robinson son of Theo and Mrs Robinson, boardinghouse near the McGrew mine, was fatally struck by an automobile driven by Miss Clella Brooks on Thursday about 11 30. He suffered a fractured skull and back broken, likely dying instantly. Brooks was en route to Wellington when the accident occurred. Born January 24, 1912, the boy was nearly five. Funeral held Friday at 2 30 from the home.

City Council Proceedings December 1916 Meeting Minutes
The city council met in regular session with Mayor Minor presiding. Minutes of last meetings were read and filed. November 1916 treasurer and police judge reports were read and filed. A motion barred automobile bills contracted by police. A $321.45 bill from Missouri Gas and Electric Service Co was allowed. The Committee on scales was instructed to audit the 2nd and 3rd ward scales and report.

Death of Joseph R. Fortman at 29
Joseph R. Fortman deputy superintendent of the Metropolitan Insurance branch here died at 2023 Main Street after a three week illness of typhoid fever. He was born in Devers Iowa on June 10 1889 and was 29. He leaves a wife and two children. The body was taken to Dubuque Iowa for burial Friday morning.
