Signor Ciccolini in Tone-Test Concert With Edison Phonograph

A tone-test concert at the Grand Theatre by the Edison phonograph group in Lexington, represented by Westerman and Barnett, featured Signor Ciccolini singing mainly operatic pieces from his records. The performance highlighted the machine’s limits, the mezza voce effect, and a superb cellist, Joe Glockner, with imperfect synchronism noted as a factor in tone reproduction. The program drew praise for enterprise and generosity from the organizers.
