Death of Fred E Wallace in Lafayette County
Fred E Wallace died at his Lafayette street home after a sudden lung hemorrhage while at work in the yard. A native of Wallingford Connecticut born September 8 1852 he moved to Missouri in 1831 and farmed near Lexington before relocating with his wife Alice Earl to town. He leaves six children Earl Walter Elizabeth Forrest Mary and Lucy. Funeral held Tuesday at 2 pm at his home with burial at Machpelah conducted by Rev Rh B Binney.

Young Hoge Injured In Building Accident At Academy
Ben Hoge eldest son of Col and Mrs W M Hoge of this city narrowly escaped serious harm Wednesday evening when a ladder slipped as he and others descended from the second story of the new Academy building. He fractured his left wrist and suffered bruises to the head and lower limbs. He was removed to his home after initial treatment and is recovering as well as could be expected.

Barn Fire Destroys Forsha Farm Near Lexington
A barn on Joseph L. Forsha’s farm six miles southwest of Lexington burned completely on Wednesday afternoon. About twelve tons of hay and forty bushels of corn were lost. Forsha estimates losses at about 400 dollars, with 300 dollars insured. Origin of the fire is unknown.
