Died at 75 Stewart Summers obituary in Lexington
Stewart Summers aged 75 years 6 months 4 days died Tuesday afternoon at his College street home after years of ill health. Born Mt. Sterling Kentucky January 27 1827 he moved to Missouri with his parents in 1824, later ran S and I Summers grocery at Franklin avenue and 13th street. He retired about ten years ago. Survived by widow Rachel Reed Summers and daughter Martha Isabel Gunlack with three grandchildren Summers Gunlack Lou Stanfield and Emily Robinson two sisters also living Odessa. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 pm at the Christian church with Rev Binney officiating interment Machpelah cemetery.

Signor S. D'Anna, renowned voice culture and instrumental music instructor, will depart Kentucky around September first to assume the musical department at Lexington College for Young Women in Lexington, Missouri. He has built a broad reputation across Canada and multiple U.S. cities, previously heading Sayre Institute's music department in this city. A graduate of the Royal College of Music, Palermo and Milan, he studied voice under Francesco Lampert.

Sheriff takes suspects after night assault at Stratman’s saloon
