Death of Judge Robert Hale in Lafayette County
The well known Lafayette County citizen Judge Robert Hale died at his home on Wednesday morning August 8th of heart disease at age 73. Born July 22, 1825 in Bedford County Virginia, he lived in Missouri since childhood and held roles as city register deputy sheriff and county judge. He was a Mason and a popular figure with a generous memory and broad acquaintance. Burial Thursday at four o clock from the Methodist church with services led by Rev T M Quibb and Rev J C Given. pallbearers listed and a quartet contributing to the rites.

At an adjourned council meeting the contract for curbing South street was awarded to J H Waugh & Co of Kansas City at 47 656 cents per running foot for new curbing and 8 cents for resetting. An ordinance paving Main street from 8th to 13th and east line of 16th to west line of 21st was read. bids for paving to be advertised. Curbing bids: Mulligan 68c new, 15c reset. Atkin 62c new, 20c reset. Boyd 59c new, 19c reset. Waugh 47 66c new, 8c reset. A remonstrance on east Main street for 1160 feet was read. supporters held 2610 feet.

Death of Thomas Blarrison in this city at 52
Thomas Blarrison died Tuesday morning August 4 after a long illness. Born in Liverpool England, he moved to the United States with his parents in 1851. He married Dells Summers March 20 1883 and resided here with his wife, three sons William Frank Leo and daughter Lillian. Surviving are two sisters Lizzie Kite near here and Luke Summers Chickasha Oklahoma. A funeral from the Catholic church is planned for 10 o'clock Wednesday morning.

Sunday night about seven o clock Florence Eckle daughter of Dr Walter Eckle suffered a painful accident after slipping from a pet donkey in front of Musgrove s store. Her arm was broken near the elbow and her brother Walter was uninjured. The arm was set at once and she is progressing well.

Death of John M Caldwell at Dover home
John M Caldwell died at his home two miles southwest of Dover on Sunday afternoon August 2 at one oclock from paralysis. He was about 56 years old and leaves two sons and two daughters, George of St Louis, Mrs John Eagan of Kansas City, Miss Fuente and Charles, all of this county. The funeral was held Monday morning at ten oclock.
