Edward F Nicholson, 73, a Lexington business leader and former Confederate volunteer, died Tuesday at 12:50 AM at his home 823 South Street after a long illness from heart failure. Survived by wife Clara Fall Nicholson and seven children, funeral held Thursday at 2 PM from his home, Machpelah Cemetery burial, ties to Lexington Savings Bank and local church.

Car mishap injures driver at 20th and Franklin
On Thursday Ben Eaton, learning the car’s controls, steered into the curb at the 20th and Franklin area. The crash broke the front axle and caused a costly mishap after Eaton had just taken the chauffeur’s seat and attempted the known corner.

Rural and Village School Graduates Hold Exercises at Higginsville
The Rural and Village Schools of Lafayette county will hold graduation at Higginsville High School on Saturday May 7. Hon Luther Hardaway will deliver the address. Graduates receive High School Entrance Certificates and a scholarship award. The aim is to push pupils from elementary to high school with eligibility through eighth grade exams. This year over one hundred students are in the graduating class, many from rural schools.

Sherwood to visit Lexington College for two recitals
