Extensions on the Clearwater likely to reach Nez Perce prairie
President Mellen of the Northern Pacific plans a Lewiston visit this week to review proposed extensions of the Clearwater Short Line. Rumors favor a Culdesac start with 2000 feet climb to Camas and Nez Perce prairie, though a river mouth bridge near Big Canyon and a former O R N route are also considered. Strong sentiment on the prairie supports the latter path, and major tramway preparations have halted as rail access to the prairie is anticipated soon.
