Wiles Freed After Liquor Charge Trial

George Wiles was discharged after a Wednesday morning hearing before U. S. Commissioner E. O'Neill. Deputy Marshal Schattner arrested him days earlier for introducing liquor on the reservation. insufficient evidence prevented federal court action. J. H. Nave of Iola Kansas will open an architect’s office in the Thiessen building soon, having settled here last fall to establish a permanent residence on purchased land.

Taxation Bill Passes After Debate at Nez Perce Legislature

A busy week in the Idaho legislature ends with the taxation of mines bill passing the house after extended debate. It taxes net output with mine owners reporting January to May. several highway and school bills face unfavorable votes. new measures introduce county creation and travel allowances for county officers. A Nezperce water power project is noted along Lolo creek.

New Grounds for the Gun Club Moves Lands

Nez Perce County Sportsmans Association secures land south and west of the cemetery, tears down current buildings, and moves to the new site where they will erect quarters. They lease from the Catholic church for ten years with Father Post’s courtesy, planning a $400 improvement including a 50 by 16 foot trap house, 16 by 16 foot locker room, and a 50 by 6 foot spectator balcony on a ridge overlooking the Snake river. The club has about 55 members and remains debt free with funds for the work. D B Hilbert of Lewiston Milling Co leaves for the East to Illinois and Ohio for about a month.

Hog raising expands in Potlatch market region

Abou Megs reports hog production growing into a substantial business in the Potlatch area. Since last Friday Kendrick shipped four carloads, and a total of fifteen carloads have left Kendrick since December 1902. The industry shows steady demand and stock feeding remains a key market factor.
