A derailed Olympian passenger train near Ipstabie Tuesday night toppled cars into a ditch as brakes failed and the engine crew escaped unharmed. Several injured passengers, including Archie Parker, were rushed to a hospital after the wreck. Wrecking crews worked to repair the damaged track, noting the rails twisted and the cars ground to ruin in the incident.
Monday afternoon Herbert Hawley and Dorothy Miller wed in Hettinger with a small ceremony due to mourning in the groom’s family. They travel to Marshalltown Iowa for residence where the groom has a position. The bride, daughter of N. H. Miller, leaves the city social circle as a cherished young couple.
The Lemmon Commercial Club held a lively monthly session discussing free freight rates for hay and feed to needy farmers, state farm proposals, and urging a parcel post debate. A planned debate on parcel post will feature Finch and Grose, with a call to action to involve the Interstate Commerce Commission.
Local lodges announce new officers for the coming year. Lemmon Lodge No. 151 names Dr WA Pina as Worshipful Master and others for senior roles. Dakota Chapter No. ROB 5 chooses Mra HA Kilis as Worthy Matron and A A File as Worthy Patron among a slate of officers. Lemmon Camp No 13473 releases a roster including Robt. F. Priebe and Sentry Rd Brewer Managers HL J. Weatphal. Rebelah Lodge No. 7B seats Mrs Ade Margaz on as Past Grand and Mrs Mamie vi as Noble Grand.
City council meeting with all members present approves low water rates and a building permit for A B Yater. Wm F Sager surrenders electric lighting franchise. council accepts and returns rights. Fr Ruth resigns as city treasurer to take a position with Armours in Minneapolis.
The Presbyterian Lads Aid plans its meeting at the church Thursday December 14 with all members invited. Attendees will hear Arlene Mannet’s return from a two week visit to Mainogiv and Mrs. Crome’s brother Mr. Jos Marrsion hosted by Mr. and Mrs. F. Paul Crna. Grace Burgoyne Company presents the comedy My Wife's Family at the Armery Cpery Howse with star Grace Burgoyne. Weather notes remark sunny December after late November frost. Local officials J. F Larrann and Mr dotsan transacted business in the city. Mrs A 5 Mowe and Mina Wolaan travel Thursday to Latrosa to attend at the bedside of Meme The condition remains worrisome per telegrams.
