L. D. Wilson has acquired the stock and goodwill of the Lemmon Mercantile company and will operate the store with his sons. Dr. and Mrs. T. F. McNamara plan to move to Michigan to pursue other business interests after establishing the Lemmon Mercantile Co. in the town’s first building. The community extends best wishes as the McNamara family departs and Wilson expands his new enterprise.

White Butte Fire Burns Kaufman Frei Warehouse
A warehouse at White Butte owned by Kaufman and Frei burned last night along with valued implements and machinery. The loss is total with little insurance. Fire investigators suspect incendiarism as plans were underway to move the building to Petrel with other businesses. Interior department limits homestead rights to land owners
The Interior department ruled that a man owning 16 acres plus a town lot cannot claim a homestead. The decision in the Bergh case narrowed the rule that previously allowed broader interpretation. The ruling cites a prohibition on acquiring rights under the homestead law for anyone owning more than 160 acres in any state or territory.
