Mrs Parley Austin Laid to Rest in Lehi

Funeral services were held last Sunday at the Loi Tabort for Charlotte Mirabeth Matt Austin known as Mrs Parley Austin. The city council attended in a body and the procession was among Lehi’s longest. Bishop J T Gardner presided and the Tabernacle Choir aided the service.

City Council Deliberations On Banking, Streets, Water Tank Move

City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening to discuss banking business with the Bank of Lehi, decide on widening Sego Lilly street, and move the water tank near the tithing yard to access water from the Co-op. Officials reviewed irrigation culverts and bridges, with repairs and expenses itemized for local contractors and suppliers.

Lehi High School to Offer Three Year Program Next Year

The Lehi district plans a three year high school course next year with English Algebra European History Physical Geography Commercial Arithmetic and other subjects. The curriculum may adjust slightly and more subjects could be added as the school expands becoming possibly the largest in its history with students choosing from math, science, languages, civics and arts.

Fires threaten crops near Leki as dry grass burns

For about a week cheat grass fires rage in the hills north and west of Leki. Fires spread toward the Point of the Mountain andJordan area burning east and south, destroying grain but saving most crops. A boy Yost is blamed for starting a fire near a barn. Citizens urge protection and precautions to prevent further fires.

Visit to Canada Excursionists Reach Alberta Farms

About eighty three Lehi excursionists left for Canada on July 90 heading to Sterling Magrath Cardston in Alberta. They were met at Sterling by locals seeking Utah relatives. Most Lehi travelers are well though Martin Miller and Bert Day are ill. Alberta crops look promising with wheat yields around 40 bushels per acre. John Brvihaw of Magrath holds 1800 bushels of grain, the largest acreage among Lehi growers. The main challenge is harvesting, with Indians from Blood Reservation hired for help. Weather in Canada was pleasant during the stay.
