Funeral services were held last Sunday at the Loi Tabort for Charlotte Mirabeth Matt Austin known as Mrs Parley Austin. The city council attended in a body and the procession was among Lehi’s longest. Bishop J T Gardner presided and the Tabernacle Choir aided the service.
City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening to discuss banking business with the Bank of Lehi, decide on widening Sego Lilly street, and move the water tank near the tithing yard to access water from the Co-op. Officials reviewed irrigation culverts and bridges, with repairs and expenses itemized for local contractors and suppliers.
The Lehi district plans a three year high school course next year with English Algebra European History Physical Geography Commercial Arithmetic and other subjects. The curriculum may adjust slightly and more subjects could be added as the school expands becoming possibly the largest in its history with students choosing from math, science, languages, civics and arts.
Lehi visitors discussed Saratoga Springs and a possible Salt Lake Route spur after crowing the Jordan River to the springs. Barter of the Salt Lake Route noted strong natural resources and the potential for Saratoga to become a premier resort in Utah.
For about a week cheat grass fires rage in the hills north and west of Leki. Fires spread toward the Point of the Mountain andJordan area burning east and south, destroying grain but saving most crops. A boy Yost is blamed for starting a fire near a barn. Citizens urge protection and precautions to prevent further fires.
About eighty three Lehi excursionists left for Canada on July 90 heading to Sterling Magrath Cardston in Alberta. They were met at Sterling by locals seeking Utah relatives. Most Lehi travelers are well though Martin Miller and Bert Day are ill. Alberta crops look promising with wheat yields around 40 bushels per acre. John Brvihaw of Magrath holds 1800 bushels of grain, the largest acreage among Lehi growers. The main challenge is harvesting, with Indians from Blood Reservation hired for help. Weather in Canada was pleasant during the stay.

Postmaster Kirkham of Raymond and his son James visited Magrath on Monday. Kirkham is the Alberta Mouthers News correspondent and his son is the Lit BANSER editor. They toured the office and shop and seemed impressed by Magrath’s promising prospects.
A large shipment of fall dress woods game is expected to arrive this week at People's Co op.
Farmers and the public are invited to view tests at the experimental station. Reports highlight Australian wheat, oats and pea forage trials, closely drilled corn for forage, millet plots, raspberries, and a large tomato patch. An apple crop impacted by frost and new Jonathan varieties are noted as positives.
