H G Bohlke completes purchase of all assets of the Cashmere Apple Company for 185000 dollars. The deal includes two warehouses at Cashmere and Wenatchee, the Dryden warehouse, real estate contracts, and the Casco Brand. Bohlke plans strong eastern marketing connections and bridge to 310 acres of bearing orchards.

A Daily News correspondent from East Anglia recounts a curious incident in which a rat devours milk from bottles meant for twins. The rodent calmly suckled from a rubber teat as an improvised “aldermanic” portion drained the bottle, leaving a far-away, contented look.

Young Man Magnan Killed in Great Northern Yard Accident
Hiram B Magnan about twenty years old died after being run over and cut by wheels in Leavenworth yards last Saturday morning. Magnan and two companions from St. Cloud Minnesota rode engine No 2 from Seattle and awoke after it arrived. They climbed down as the engine backed toward the roundhouse, Magnan dropped to the track and was fatally injured. He died at Leavenworth hospital around 10:30. The body sent to Sanish North Dakota for burial after identification by a brother-in-law James F Violett of Bonner Montana.

In an adjourned meeting the city council favored purchasing the Hamilton and Steele tracts for a recreation park and aviation field, voting to take an option and appointing Motteler, Beamish and Wunder to manage the transaction. A Public Library Board of Trustees was appointed along with mayoral appointments. The water department was authorized to buy material to relay a water main under a proposed road to the dam, and the city attorney opined on sewer duties to maintain sanitary conditions on the Glaeser property and similar cases.
