At a Dryden Woodmen meeting a committee was formed to survey support for a new Woodmen lodge home and community building. The project aims to include a large ground floor room for gatherings and could host a garage or similar use. The note urges broad local cooperation to ensure success.
April 7 after school the Camp Fire Girls met at Alfreda Davis home and hiked a mile and a half to a sandy beach for a weenie roast and lunch. April 15 seven dollars in dues were reported and Gladys Imberg was elected to membership. Mrs Hodgins to take charge when Miss Fleming leaves.
R Day, longtime Great Northern Lumber Co. woods superintendent, resigns and leaves for Portland Oregon to work as a timber cruiser. He has eight years of cruiser experience and may join F S Seritsmeier in Portland. Vacancy will be filled by C B Watson.
Ex mayor Van Lear of Minneapolis spoke before a packed audience Monday at the Scenic theater. His past ties with Northwest labor organizations were a major draw for attendees.

Blewett Pass is expected to be ready for traffic Saturday morning after crews, led by T W Parrish, clear rock slides and repair bad spots. The pass, key Spokane Seattle route, saw last year 180000 dollars spent. this spring four thousand more will be used. Snoqualmie Pass should reopen around May 1.
The State Bank reports residential property purchases in Leavenworth. Frank Cassidy bought Lot 3 in Block H, A Franklin bought Lot 1 in Block 1, and Chester Dawson bought Lot in Block 1 of Burke Addition.
Monday meeting of Wenatchee valley teachers from Cashmere to Leavenworth focused on statewide reading improvement. Supt. Mann opened. Casebeer outlined state work. Mrs. Spencer of the State Department discussed December reading tests and silent reading methods for the coming year.
Mrs Marie Glaeser transfers ownership to Florence Mann for parcels Lots 87 and 38 in Block 1 of the Fox Addition to Leavenworth.
William Bates aged 56 killed his daughter Georgia aged 19 and his prospective daughter in law Maud Walt with a 38 revolver then shot himself. Mrs Walt was wounded in multiple areas and died later. the family friction centered on an engagement and a planned ranch purchase. Coroner Templeton conducted a full inquiry.
In Chelan County Superior Court John McDonald is found guilty of criminal syndicalism as a member of the I. W. W. after a brief jury deliberation. Judge Grimshaw and state prosecutor W. F. Whitney witness the verdict, with defense counsel Ralph Pierce present. The jurors include residents from Wenatchee, Peshastin, Malaga, Entiat, Dryden, Cashmere and Manson.
Ed Toler of Moses Coulee was trapped under a car after its rear axle broke on the Douglas canyon grade. With the sun reflecting from broken glass to catch nearby workers, Amos Helm spotted the scene three miles away and summoned help. A rescue party freed Toler, who suffered a dislocated knee.
Firemen arrived within two minutes after a one o'clock discovery of a roof blaze at Day's confectionery. A small chemical extinguisher checked the incipient fire before it gained much headway. No wind aided the flames and the frame building on Front street, owned by Darling of Everett, was deemed likely to be replaced.
O M Van Brocklin and son F KE Van Brocklin bought four purebred Holsteins from F A Sinclair to begin a strong herd. They previously raised grade stock but now aim to build a top purebred group with three heifers and a bull. Read details on each animal and origins from Howden and Thorn herds.
Victor John Post of the American Legion held a regular meeting at the Masonic hall with about 85 members present. Plans were made to form a Ladies Auxiliary at the next meeting, inviting mothers wives and sisters to join. A luncheon was served and the group aims to be a social and helpful force for members.
Postmaster Hamilton reports a federal inquiry into village delivery readiness. The Service club is urged to help gather information and speed up sign placement and numbering. Planned sidewalk and crossing improvements may include new crosswalks and sidewalk segments to ensure timely village delivery.
In the Methodist Episcopal church, Sabbath School starts at 9 45 with Epworth League at 7 oclock. Morning sermon at 11 o clock and evening service at 8. The topics include Will a Man Rob God and Is America Losing Her Soul with Miss Ethel Cowan speaking for the Children’s Home Finding Society.
Preaching by Rev. W. C. Leuckel at 7:45 on next Monday evening. Ladies' Aid meets Thursday May 6 at 2 p.m. with Mrs. H Ring.
A six member delegation including Ed win George Hoxey Richard Simons Dr Hanbloom and Jim Corbett traveled to Wenatchee yesterday to attend the funeral of Major Denzel commander of the American Legion Post there.
