Chelan county engineering department runs a 600000 plus campaign for roads this year with a total around 850000 when including state and federal allocations. Projects include Sunset highway upgrades from Monitor to Cashmere, Blewett pass work, Rock Island paving, East Cashmere bridge, and the Chelan Okanogan corridor with bids set for April 26.

The Fruit Growers of the Peshastin Association awarded the cold storage warehouse contract to Louie Speidel for 63 798 dollars. The 110 by 140 foot three story building with an 85 foot tunnel will be ready for this year's crop. Rock Island rider Perry Brown dies after bicycle motorcycle crash
Perry A Brown 34 an arsenal worker from Rock Island dies after his bicycle is struck by a motorcycle driven by Herman Mahnke near the government viaduct bridge. Brown died at St Anthony s hospital after being treated at Arsenal Hospital. He came from Salem Iowa and was a noted community member. Surviving are his parents two sisters and his body will be shipped to Salem for interment.

The council, in regular session Tuesday, moved to form a local improvement district for a cement sidewalk around Block 8, with financing to be arranged. It granted a permit for property improvements in Block 38 on Commercial Street and assigned a committee to work with the Service Club on a recreation park. The Shore property vicinity and a drain crossing on Commercial Street were reviewed for liability, and an ordinance for street signs and house numbers was given first reading. Icicle road plans were approved with bids to be called.

The Washington supreme court affirms a Chelan county superior court judgment of 6000 dollars in favor of George W. Briskey and others against Great Northern Lumber Co of Leavenworth for damages from Wenatchee river damming in 1917. A 1918 claim and a prior 5000 dollar award unresolved in Briskey’s favor are noted. Briskey has died. proceeds will go to his heirs.
