Gary Green, 8, son of Mr and Mrs Peter Green of Sieur Center, died in a Sioux Center hospital after being found along Highway 75 near his home. Shoes were located 40 feet from the body. Police believe he was the victim of a hit and run driver.
Delores Jean Lemke daughter of Erich Lemke of Holstein married Victor Gene Grothaus son of Mr and Mrs C E Grothaus of Kingsley Sunday evening at St Paul Lutheran church in Holstein. Rev William Stripe officiated before an altar with bronze chrysanthemums pompons white asters and candlelabra.
Le Mars residents attend a Sioux City Public Schools luncheon at the Country Club hosted by Mes Elma O'Brien and Mrs Leonard Ludsig. Mrs Paul Trauffer joins Iowa Press Meeting hosts at the Mayfair Hotel Lions City. Tea Day planned at Country Club with Mrs James I Kelly and Mrs Clifford Kytes. Mariners Club hosts a pot luck supper at Presbyterian Church and plans landscaping. PG A Club meets at Mrs Martha Lehmbkuhl’s home with cohost Mrs Pat Coddington as plans for 1956 57 unfold. Helen Vance elected president and Janice Hensel treasurer. Mrs Caroline Wolf marked 75th birthday with visits from relatives and friends.
Oscar Asmussen living four miles south of Le Mars on the Neptune highway brings two fine corn cats to the Globe-Post office window for display. He asks, who wants the Soil Bank, adding that on average this is good corn for £ 956.
The Spencer Chorus, a sixty voice SPEBSQSA group, will perform at the Fall Harvest of Harmony on October 13 in the Central High School auditorium. Formed May 20, 1947, the group has earned national recognition, won three consecutive Central States District Championships, and donates proceeds to Spencer community improvements.
Two Miller Estate Farms were sold at public auction on September 25. Auctioneers were Richards Ruden and Adams. The 20 acre tract two miles east of Ovens Corner on the highway sold for 359 dollars per acre to high bidder Mrs. Mary Miller. The 60 acre tract one mile east of Ovens Corner and 4 1/2 miles south sold for 287 dollars per acre. Mrs. Mary Miller bought that farm as well.
FE F Kieffer of Remsen Bell Enterprise warned on air that a dramatically lowered water table in the Remsen area could cause serious problems. He urged people to conserve water in town and rural areas. Le Mars reports seventeen Remsen farmers plan to drill new wells but struggle to find suitable locations.

Multiple farm auctions scheduled with Johnson Tricher Don Geddes and Richard, Ruden and Adams acting as auctioneers in Rock Rapids and surrounding areas. Mr and Mrs Thomas Muth celebrated their silver 25th wedding anniversary with open house at home attended by relatives and friends. The couple who married in Ireton 25 years ago lived on a farm near Sioux Falls before settling back in Ireton. They have seven children and were joined by numerous guests from Hawarden Bettendorf Longview Alcester Elk Point Sibley Sioux Falls and other towns.
Elaine Mitsven daughter of Mr and Mrs Herman Mitsven of Bode wed Kenneth Feauto son of Mr and Mrs Ambrose Feauto of Akron at Corpus Christi church. Rev Thomas Holland officiated. Attendants were Mrs Harry Williams and Ronald Feauto. A wedding breakfast was held at the Redwood Grill after the 9 am ceremony. A reception followed on Aug 12 at Eagle hall Akron. The newlyweds now reside in Fort Dodge.
An executive committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Westmar College met on Friday September 21 in Le Mars to plan a Westmar Appreciation program. The effort aims to provide a community funded college budget and create an annual campaign culminating in a Westmar Appreciation week. A goal of 25000 dollars was set this year. The plan includes a quiet business drive followed by broad citizen involvement. Also noted is the regional impact of Westmar College with 84 area students last year and more than 355235 dollars spent locally. Names of committee members are listed.
Miss Judith Elaine Mahnke daughter of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Mahnke of Pierson wed Robert Allen Franzen son of Mr and Mrs Victor Franzen of Kingsley at First Lutheran church in Kingsley September 8. Pastor Walter Resner officiated a double ring ceremony with white gladiolus and candelabra. The couple will reside in Ames where Franzen is a Town State College sophomore and Mahnke will work at the College Book Store.
Mr and Mrs Don Getchell of Yankton S D will present a program at St George's Episcopal Church on Sunday September 30 following the 9 am Morning Prayer service. They promote daily gospel outreach and invite all to hear how they involved friends and neighbors in the Christian faith. Kathryn Ann Lettler and Lane Visit news noted.
The Women’s Society of World Service of the Evangelical United Brethren Church hosts a Fall Institute on Wednesday Oct 3 at Calvary Church Le Mars with 10 am registration. Missionary speaker Rev. Fred BD Walker from Sierra Leone will attend with branch president Mrs H Ow Thompson and Spiritual Life Secretary A Washington. Local churches represented include Adaville Melbourne Stanton Spencer Correctionville Wapshta Moville and host Le Mars. Noon luncheon will be served by the Le Mars Society.
George Dewey Bender longtime Plymouth County president died Wednesday at Methodist hospital Sioux City after a lingering sickness. Born August 6 1896 in Humeer ford township near Hinton he married Meriam Danner of St Petersburg Fla November 25 1933. Funeral at Le Mars Presbyterian Church September 29 with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery Sioux City. Surviving widow and relatives.
Sioux and Plymouth counties conservation officer Gene Newell said a fox and coyote trapping school will be conducted by an area game manager at the Gene Loutsch farm 6 miles south of the cemetery corner in Remsen on Tuesday October 9 from 8:00 a.m. until noon. The schooling is free and open to all interested.
A late model car driven by Pauline Rowe of Cloquet Minnesota went off Highway 33 a half mile north of Seney and rolled onto its right side. Norman Rowe suffered a cut and scratches while three Rowe children were hurt. Gerry, age 4, had a head bump and was discharged from the hospital. Juliana and Mark Raymond were uninjured. Patrol put vehicle damage at $600.

The county Farm Bureau held a three day drive signing up 63 new members across the county. Alvin Henrich, membership chairman, called it an outstanding effort. Directors, committee members, captains, and staff supported the drive, anticipating a strong year in the county and state. Over two new members were added in the state. Mrs. Lloyd Herron returned to Santa Marina Cairo after a month with Miss Bertha Roth.

The Babson poll ballot invites readers to indicate intended presidential and congressional votes for 1952 1954 and 1956 with options for Democratic Republican and Other. Clarence Lemke of Sioux City died in Lutheran hospital after a seven week illness on September 22. Born March 8, 1906 in Lee County Iowa, he lived in Sioux City 20 years and worked as foreman at Propecks for five years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral services were held September 25 at Perasso Bros. Funeral Home and Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in Mersill cemetery. He is survived by wife Edna Buehre, sister Leona Utesch, brothers Earl and Art, sister-in-law Lillian Stearns, and Art Lemke.
