Funeral services for Frank Stuntebeck 91 who died Monday in a hospital were held at 9:30 Thursday at St Marys Catholic church Remsen. Burial followed in the parish cemetery. First Killing Frost Report for Le Mars
The first killing frost of the year was reported by KLEM the official U S Weather Observers for Le Mars. Temperatures fell to 28 degrees Saturday night and 30 degrees Sunday night. Skim ice appeared by 9 pm Saturday. Many flowers and fragile plants were killed by the frost. The Globe-Post has long printed dates of previous years' first frosts.

Phone Tax Tally Faces Northwestern Bell in Iowa
M. E. Herman of Northwestern Bell in Akron says a $14,839.47 check will go to Plymouth County Treasurer for the second half of 1955 operating property taxes. The total county tax for five phones runs about $29,678.78, or $2,472 monthly. Herman notes Iowa telephone taxes rose $1.54 monthly since 1940, with Northwestern Bell’s 1955 Iowa tax bill exceeding $9,676,000 and state and federal telecom taxes adding over $5,492,000. The statewide tax total surpasses $15,168,000, averaging $2.19 per month per Iowa Northwestern Bell phone, up from 65 cents in 1940.

Bernard DeBondt of Hull was taken to Sacred Heart hospital Friday morning after a one car crash 244 miles east of Le Mars on highways 3 and 3.
