A Cherokee family visited Sunday including Mr and Mrs Andrew Johnson and their brother in law and sister, along with Mr and Mrs Donald Johnson and their family. Mus Charles August of Sioux was also among the visitors in the lingong homy Sunday.
A long list of visitors to area residents includes City and Lutivs Eppting with Henry Holland and Ernest Schaeffer in Pierson and Sioux City, with many families hosting guests from LeMars Moville and Kan City. Weather notes, fishing reports from Humboldt and the Mississippi River, Farm Bureau plans for October 15 in LeMars, and upcoming meetings led by Sylvester Pick, Lloyd Weidauer, and Fred Luken.
Fishing is active across Iowa with walleye and smallmouths warming in natural lakes and peaking in the next weeks. Northeast streams like Upper Iowa and Wapsipinicon yield strong smallmouth bites while Raccoon River near Jefferson sees walleye and smallmouth action. largemouth bass rise in artificial waters. Humboldt reservoir reports a bullhead bonanza.
President Franz Schneider of the Plymouth County Farm Bureau has named the nominating committee members. The list includes officials chosen to propose candidates for upcoming Farm Bureau leadership roles.
The Union Township Farm Bureau ladies met on September 19 with Mrs. Henry Dempster. Roll call was answered by sharing a safety tip. They plan to decorate luncheon tables for Rural Urban Day on October 7 and heard cake decorating by Mrs. Margaret McQueen of Washta Iowa. New officers include Chairman Mrs. John Morton and several committee leads across Legislation, Publicity, Agriculture, Rural Mail, Conservation, School, Know Your FB, and Music. Delors Davis of LeMars enrolled as a junior at Wheaton College Illinois, planning to teach. LeMars Mothers Club meets September 26 at 1:30 pm with Mrs Athens hosting dessert luncheon and program by Mrs LaVern Feusner.
