Crushed Rib Injuries After Le Mars Truck Car Crash

Wm. William Gerrietts of 408 2nd St. SW LeMars and Maurice Betsworth of Merrill are hospitalized at Sacred Heart in Le Mars after a gravel truck driven by Betsworth and a car driven by Gerrietts collided at a blind corner five miles S and three E of Le Mars. Betsworth suffers facial and hand lacerations, a severed tendon in the right hand, three fractured ribs, while Gerrietts has four or five rib fractures and a forearm fracture. Deputy Jim Mertes investigated. the 1924 Buick and 1958 Chevrolet were involved.

Kunkel Couple Mark 30th Wedding Anniversary

Felix and Mary Kunkel of Remsen celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on September 27, 1987. They wed September 27, 1927 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Remsen and have six children and nine grandchildren. Collision near Alta Injures Humboldt man and Buena Vista student

Marvin Dominick of Humboldt formerly at Swansons Super Store Le Mars was seriously injured in a two car crash at 7:00 am Friday near Alta Iowa. Don Atchison a Buena Vista College student was not seriously hurt and helped summon aid after Dominick was thrown from his car.

Two Killed In Car Accident Wednesday

Mrs. Gerritt Posthuma of Lake Wilson Minnesota died last Wednesday from injuries after a collision near Lake Wilson. Also killed was Mr. Martinsen of Lake Wilson. Gerritt Posthuma and Mrs. Martinsen are hospitalized in Slayton with serious injuries. Funeral services for Mrs Posthuma and Mr Martinsen were held in Lake Wilson.

Charles McManus 65 operator of a recreation parlor died Friday after a brief illness. Funeral services were at 9 a.m. Monday at Nelson funeral home in Marcus. Burial followed at Holy Name cemetery. Two-Car Collision Injures Mrs Dimmick and Son in Sioux City

Esther Marie Dimmick, 56, of Hawarden Iowa, and her 3 year old son Danny were injured in a Saturday crash at W Sixth and Bluff. Dimmick sustained head and shoulder injuries. Alton Man Hurt In Accident Near Farm Drive

L H S Band to Compete at Luverne Festival

The Le Mars Central high school band and 24 other high school bands will compete at the 7th Annual Tri-State Band Festival in Luverne Minnesota Saturday. The marching contest begins about 1 30 p m after a parade downtown and the luton twirl ers and flag swingers perform at 9 am in the new high school gym. Two Minor Accidents In Le Mars

Two minor accidents occurred in Le Mars over the weekend. On Friday September 27 at 9 10 am a 1948 Chevrolet driven by Mrs Lisie Petersen and a 1954 Chrysler driven by Orlando Keffeler collided at St and Central Ave South. 850 damage to the Petersen left rear and 10 damage to the Keffeler car. Mrs Petersen was going South and Mr Keffeler West. On Sunday September 29 at 4 08 pm on 2nd Ave about 70 feet north of 1st St Mary Alesch traveling south struck a 1951 Mercury belonging to Paul Buttermore which was parked. Right front damage to the Alesch car and 50 damage to the Buttermore car.

An 3 pm Sunday head on collision on highway 3 near Cleg involved Roger Smith 17 of Murisien driving a Wy4 car and Mark Rupp 17 of Marcus in a 1953 vehicle. Gibbons Rites Held for Lawrence W Gibbons

Funeral services were held Monday at SS Patrick church Akron for Lawrence W Gibbons 65 longtime Akron Westfield resident who died Friday at Akron hospital after a heart attack. He was born May 8 1892 and retired auto mechanic. Survivors include two daughters Mrs Alfred Hawks Westfield and Mrs Everald Paskett Remsen a sister Mrs Charles Burnight Sioux City and nine grandchildren. One son preceded him in death.
