Longtime Le Mars resident Mrs Hahn dies at 70

Mrs. Chas Charles Hahn of Le Mars died Sunday night at Sacred Heart Hospital after a years long illness. Born December 19 1885 in Siamton township Plymouth County she was married March 4 1906 to Charles Hahn of Hinton Iowa. Survived by daughter Mildred Eyres son Ben and Lowell of Lakewood Calif two grandsons six grandchildren and a brother Wm Heubsch of Pomona California. Farmer Falls From Crib Near Le Mats Injured

Kenneth Schultz of three miles north of Le Mats fell about ten feet from the top of a worn crib while working on an elevator spout. He grabbed a ladder four feet from the ground, then jumped to the earth. Initial reports say a cracked hip socket, with X-rays taken at Sacred Heart Hospital in Sioux City. He also suffered significant bruising.

Pilgrimage From St. Joseph’s to St. Mary’s Church

Weather remains mild despite forecasts of cold air. About 173 cars from Times and St. Joseph’s parishes participated in a pilgrimage leaving St. Joseph’s Church at 200 p m Monday. The convoy drove to St. Mary’s Church in Alton where services were held. The rosary was recited, concluding with benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and hymns by combined choirs.

Cudahy Packing to Cut 4000 Jobs and Costs

Stockholders were told in Chicago today that Cudahy Packing will cut about 4000 jobs at Sioux City and other plants. The firm reports 1,400 losses at the Sioux City plant, with 200 top payroll positions moved elsewhere.
