Police Court Fines In State Cabes at Mayor Office Les Mars

In Le Mars last days fines were issued in a city case. Keith Donald Schultze of Cornell Iowa paid 20 dollars for failure to control his vehicle. Peter Eisma of Ieo low faced 15 dollars for improper passing. Vernon Knutsen of Shaco California was fined 18 dollars for speeding. Jim Wegs of Estherville paid 30 dollars for night time speeding. Dennis Cooper of Manson Iowa was fined 20 dollars for speeding.

Women’s Diocesan Council Elects Officers at Carroll Convention

Mrs. James Rogers of Le Mars was re elected treasurer at the Sioux City Diocesan Council of Catholic Women second annual convention in Carroll Iowa. Officers include Mrs Mervin Fedder son president and Mrs Wilbur Cac ket Spencer secretary Bishop Mueller opened and urged teenage dating restraint. Principal speaker was Mrs Joseph F P Kennedy of Boston. The convention theme was Faith Without Works is Dead Two thousand women from 24 northwest counties attended.

Accident Was Lucky But Driver Fined

A 1950 car driven by Keith Depald Schultze of Cornell Iowa went out of control on highway 3 east of Le Mars. The car hit a telephone pole, rolled, and ended upright. Schultze was fined $20 for failing to keep the vehicle under control after the crash. Passenger Robert Kirkman of Storm Lake was thrown from the car and hospitalized with back and leg injuries. The other passenger escaped injury. The men were REA tree trimmers. fog and speed contributed to the mishap.

Fire at Reynolds Station Destroys Car Sparks Town Wide Alarm

A flash fire at the Harry Reynolds Phillips 66 station on 1st St and 1st Ave NW in Le Mars destroyed Dr. Wayne H. Faber’s 1957 Ford and damaged pumps. No injuries were reported as gasoline fumes ignited by a flare, and the fire was quickly extinguished by the Le Mars fire department with help from station workers.

Speeding in LeMars leads to minor fine in Mayor's Court

LeRoy Housewirth of South Sioux City Nebraska was fined 50 dollars on two speeding charges in LeMars Mayor's Court after being picked up at Merrill. Police reported two accounts of speeding in a restricted area with alleged motor vehicle law violations and questioned state compliance with Iowa traffic reporting requirements.

4-H Calf Selection Tips for Plymouth County Members

About 175 Plymouth County 4-H members seek calves for a summer show at the county fair. Rolland Paul and Tom Wickersham of Iowa State College advise buying light calves around 400 to 450 pounds in fall, aiming for 650 pounds by January 11 weigh-in, and around 30 cents a pound to avoid overpaying. Le Mars Couple Injured In Brookings Train Collision

Mr and Mrs Ronnie Miller former Le Mars residents were seriously hurt in a noon Tuesday car train crash in Brookings South Dakota. Miller drove a Plymouth while a freight train struck the car causing multiple injuries. They are listed in fair condition at Brookings Hospital. Mrs Miller worked as a beauty operator in Le Mars and they recently moved to Brookings where he is employed by Stromberg Carlson.

William Walker 57 former Le Mars resident died Tuesday from a heart attack at his Cincinnati Ohio home His wife Beulah Walker formerly Beulah White of Le Mars sent the telegraph funeral set for Friday at White funeral home in Cincinnati Deceased was a sanitation engineer with the U S Public Health Service in Cincinnati A chemist he once discovered a powerful explosive from nitrate byproducts tested on the George Remer farm in Le Mars He worked at the Schneider Bowers store before earning his chemistry degree His father M S Walker was an executive in that firm Mr and Mrs Walker were early in death He was a Le Mars High School graduate who left Le Mars about 25 years ago.
