Train Hits Theresa Hieke Near First Avenue West
Miss Theresa Hieke, 68, was struck by an Illinois Central passenger train traveling south toward Sioux City while walking near First Avenue West. She was conscious and taken by Lukens Ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital with head and rib injuries. x rays were taken today. Engine driver was C. B. Kile of Fort Dodge. Witnesses included the conductor, W. H. Bryant of Sioux City, and Gregg Featherston of Le Mars. Police investigated. Hieke is a retired resident.

A 1985 station wagon driven by Richard Wiltgen Jr. was damaged after a 32 kit turn out of Gehienschont Driveway on Tuesday afternoon near M30. Leonard Rolfes of Le Mars in a 1949 Chevrolet struck Wiltgen after passing another car, causing further damage on Plymouth Street. A 1950 Plymouth owned by Mrs. John Shearon Jr. was damaged on the left side when backing from the curb and struck by Mrs. Donald Page of Kingsley.

Insurance adjusters met with Rev. James Rawson of First Presbyterian Le Mars to estimate tower damage after a lightning strike at 5 p.m. Wednesday. A nearby resident described a huge round fireball lighting the tower. One panel torn out, fire crews cleared the scene, no fire spread. Across the street Roy Cooper reported an electrical circuit burn and smoke in the home. Several televisions stopped during the storm, with Channel 4 and 9 down in Sioux City.
