Wife Discovers Spouse's Body in Iowa Cornpicker
Fred Baade 39 of near Marcus was trapped in a corn picker on his farm Wednesday before noon. His wife found his mangled body when she went to check for him at noon. Funeral set for October 17 at Peace Lutheran Church in Marcus with burial in Marcus Amherst Cemetery. Survived by widow Fernadel Hatterman, three sons Clyde Edward Fred, and Judith Ann Chery linn. Parents F C Baude of Titonka and four sisters listed. This is the first cornpicker fatality in the area this year.

William Fuller of Sioux City was fined for hunting ducks during the closed season. Elmer Nagte of Sioux City also faced fines for taking mallard ducks out of season. Fuller paid 20 dollars and costs after 30 dollars of his 50 dollar fine were suspended.

Marty To Teach Biology At Westmar College

Caulkins To Leave NIPCO In December Move To Missouri Firm
Caulkins, longtime manager of NIPCO, will resign effective December 1 and join Grundy Electric Co-op in Trenton, Missouri as a plant position. He has served since 1953. Mee Cabins, an English teacher at Le Mars High School, will stay through the current term. NIPCO directors have not yet met to name a successor.

Le Mars skeet and gun club held its regular shoot on Tuesday night October 13 1959. Don Peterson of Sargent Bluff won the protection shoot and led the 25 25 event by going perfect. Len Harrison of Le Mars also excelled and several locals swept multiple events. The miss and out winner was L Luschen of Le Mars. Kyres Scmiult and others from Le Mars won multiple events, and the club announced no more shoots this season with thanks and invitation to return next year from manager John Hart.

The ship visited Pearl Harbor Guam Singapore Okinawa Hong Kong Subic Bay Manila Yokosuka and then Brisbane and Sydney for Coral Sea celebrations. After returning to Long Beach May 21 1959 Bremerton visits followed including Portland Rose Festival and Seattle Seafair before planned final departure October 20 1959 with possible decommissioning in Long Beach.
