Babson Discusses Crop Situation
Babson Park Massachusetts October 18 As far as crop production is concerned American farmers have done an outstanding job despite acreage controls and unfavorable growing conditions. The outlook for corn and soybeans shows ample supplies and large carryovers while the 1956 soybean crop is the largest on record and will exceed requirements by a wide margin. The government loan could press prices though and prices for other crops are likely to trend higher as the season advances. The late potato crop is heavy but the loan program should prevent a drastic decline. The overall farm price trend remains moderately downward but uncertain for the future.
