Awards To Higher American Belles Court Of Honor Held
Boy Scout troop 184 in Le Mars held Court of Honor at Franklin School on October 10 with the pledge and scout oath. Second class honors went to Douglas Borchers and Richard Beyers. first class to Rob Moore, Jim Mennen and Joe Meyer. Merit badges awarded to many scouts including Adams, Merkel, Lang, Vander Stoep, Hirsch, Veale, Gearke, Wells, Rozenboom, Williamson, and others. A Star Award was given to Wells and Rozenboom. Life Award to Bomgaars and Johnston. The court closed with taps and the benediction, followed by lunch. Also, a wedding: Miss Madelia Opdahl and Elmer Hart Jr tied the knot at Fulda Lutheran Church. The ceremony featured crystalette gowns, yellow roses, and a reception for about 200 guests. The couple planned to live on a farm near Fulda.

Mary Gill aged 100, one of Iowa's oldest residents, died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital after a short illness. Born December 19, 1855 in Scales Mound Illinois, she lived with son Earle Gill in Marcus and with husband Osborne Gill in Havelock.
