Remsen Farmer John Maass Dies After Illness
Funeral services were held Sunday for John C Maass 58 prominent retired farmer who died Friday at Sacred Heart hospital Le Mars after a heart attack. Born December 8 1894 south of Remsen he married Ella Seel in 1919 and farmed before retiring to Remsen in 1945. He served in World War I and was active in Christ Lutheran church and veterans groups. Survivors include six children six grandchildren a sister three brothers and a half brother. Burial with military honors followed at Remsen cemetery.

He warned against relying on business leaders or labor to solve farmers' problems and cited trade and price negotiation examples, stressing common sense and free world trade for prosperity.
