The Le Mars area reports two cave-ins over the past year, one fatal, with Central Constructor calling such accidents preventable. The supreme court affirmed a Scott County district court ruling that a trailer home can be called a house if wheels are removed and it is placed on a concrete foundation with sewer and plumbing. In Bettendorf, the county taxed the trailer home as real estate, while Sioux City trailer owners organize to challenge possible property loss and may take the matter to court.
The Skeet and Gun club held a Tuesday shoot with the Miss and Out winner Lo Luschen of Le Mars. Dr Helt from Moville achieved a perfect 25 of 25 in the third event. several shooters from Le Mars Sioux City and Sargent Bluff posted high scores. Additional wins include E L Kolker and John Hart Sr of Le Mars in the Protection shoot, and Moville shooters varying in the 25 yard events. The club shot 99 of 100 at 164 yards, and the next meet is set for September 29 at Moville with traps open at 7 pm.
Plymouth County Women toured cattle operations on a Wednesday in September. About 36 members traveled by bus visiting Ronald Tyndall’s farm west of Le Mars to view hay, feed lots, and cattle on feed with feeding timelines. The group then visited Sioux City Stock Yards, guided by Dave Micheli, receiving a yard tour from loading docks to the Exchange Building before gathering in the office.

John Ro Goldman, manager of the Sioux City district office, announced changes to payment center procedures and that post cards were provided to beneficiaries with further cards available locally.
