Fulton Hurt By Corn Picker

Glenn Fulton a west of LeMars farmer, injured his left hand in a corn picking accident on the Elmer Rainboth farm near Kingsley at about 8 30 am. His hand was caught in the picker, the machine shut off, and his cries were heard by Mrs. Thompson. He had the middle three fingers amputated at Sacred Heart hospital and was released to rest at home.

Anniversary services mark 65 years at Trinity Lutheran Akron

Rev Pannkuk officiated at Trinity American Lutheran Church Akron as 300 plus attendees joined a 65th anniversary service. John Pannkuk Jr spoke, choir performed Built on the Rock the Church doth stand, and sermon centered on gratitude to God for the church and individuals. Offerings supported benevolence work and Lutheran Welfare Society of Iowa. A fellowship dinner followed. visitors and members toured the building fund and future parish educational unit.

Funeral services held for Gustav R Strom in Akron

Gustav R Strom 58 of Phoenix died Friday after a long illness. Services were at Lewison funeral home Akron at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev Walter Kallastad of St Paul Lutheran Elk Point officiating. Burial in Elk Point church cemetery. Born January 31, 1901 in Smoland Sweden. Married Johanne Haug of Elk Point December 24 1934 in Chicago. He moved to Phoenix in 1948 for health. Survivors include widow two sisters C E Johnson Arlington Wash and another sister and a brother in Sweden.

Bud's Valu Ad Adjusts Free Pumpkin Offer

Bud Ross of Bud's Super Valu tried to withdraw a free can offer for Festal Pumpkin with Pillsbury crust purchase. The Globe Post had already run the ad in another section before shipment delays. Ross says the offer will resume next week and instead offers three Festal Pumpkin cans for 35 cents this week.

The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Schroeder of Doon Iowa was buried Thursday afternoon in Remsen Cemetery. Farm Census Training Opens as Plymouth County Enlists 13 Enumerators

Crew leader Robert Michael of Westfield 75 supervises a 2 hour training session in census definitions map reading and interviewing at the REA building in Le Mars for Plymouth County enumerators. Thirteen trainees include Gordon Winter Mildred Kurtz Ronald Hull Betty Calkin Joseph Heuertz Roland Detloff Marvin Korver Lucille Pierson Richard Milner Mara Stinton Wim Kruse Donald Fischer and Carmen Gronemeyer. Enumerators earn 13 dollars daily plus mileage with assignments about three weeks at 40 hours weekly. Questionnaires are mailed to farmers and may be filled in advance for pickup. The 1959 Census of Agriculture begins Monday November 16 to update 1954 county farm statistics including sales values for crops and livestock.

Eugene N. McArthur 37 was moved to St Joseph's Mercy Hospital after losing his left foot in a Great Northern freight train accident near Wren Junction. He had left a glove and fell between diesel units while returning for it. cause of the fall remains undetermined.

Last Man's Club Meeting in Le Mars Veterans Day

The Last Man's Club of Le Mars held its 24th annual meeting on Veterans Day November 11 at the American Legion Club Rooms. Gehlen Wins Siouxland Title With Shutout Of Akron

Gehlen Le Mars defeated Akron 25 to 6 to clinch the Siouxland Conference championship. George Welter scored twice on passes from quarterback Allen Kennedy, with 2 and 39 yard plays, and Welter added an extra point. Carl Puetz ran 20 yards for the first score and Tom Fisch 40 yards on a reverse for the final touchdown. Gehlen finished 6-2-1 overall, 4-1 in the conference. Catholic Daughters of America Court Santa Maria No 179 held a reception for candidates at Gehlen School on Tuesday with Miss Angeline Robberman presiding. Firemanship Training School Opens In Hinton

The Hinton fire department will host a Firemanship Training School taught by Gerald Mills of Iowa State College Engineering Extension. Blizzard Blows In Again

A colder wind from the north brought five inches of snow by noon with a low of 19 and a high around 21. Snow fell steadily all morning causing slick highways and hazardous conditions. school dismissed in the afternoon and buses sent home while snow plows worked against heavy odds. Car Crash on Plymouth Street Damages Two Vehicles

Police report states two cars collided at Plymouth street and 2nd Ave Sowheast at 1245 pm on November 10. Gerald Farravey of Walthill drove a 1982 Studebaker west that struck the rear of a 194% Ford driven by Mary Singer of Morril who had stopped to make a left turn. Damages estimated at $75 to the Studebaker and one to the Ford.
