Le Mars High School will hold its seventy fifth commencement Friday evening at eight. If rain, the exercises move to the public school auditorium with a half hour band concert, processional, senior quartet, boys and girls glee clubs, invocation, benediction, and diploma by Dr L C Go Toole. Rev Harold Bechker of Wright Community Church will deliver the address, introduced by Supt. Harvey Kluckhohn. A July 20 referendum will decide if wheat marketing quotas apply to the 1997 crop. Plymouth County VSC chair HF Shkeis says the 1987 wheat allotment is tied to the minimum legal quota, with details on state and national provisions and local counts office preparation for individual allotments. Funeral services for Mrs Mergar Helmrichs will be held Saturday at 2 PM at St John Ameten Lutheran church in Preston township. The service will be officiated by A Duks and the burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Mauer funeral home of Le Mus. Mrs Helmrichs, long resident of Plymouth county and Preston township, was born September 22, 1905. She was married to John Avimiichs and they lived on a farm near Akron at the time of death. Survivors include the widow, a daughter, sister Mrs HOR Frenchs of Akron, two brothers Fred Erks of Hawarden and John and Witrum Erks, both of Akron, and the mother Mrs Hulken Erks of Te Mats. Funeral services for Joseph M Simeon 73 lifelong Plymouth county resident will be at St James Church Le Mars. Burial in Calvary cemetery. He died May 29 at home from a heart attack. Born Aug 30 1883 he married Josephine Didier Nov 21 1905 they later moved to Brunsville and Le Mars. He worked at Daks Hardware and later sold Delco Light plants earning the nickname Delco Joe. Survived by widow daughter Mrs Ray Alvinad McAleer Sioux City four grandchildren. preceded in death by parents 13 siblings and one son. Nephews to serve as pallbearers.

John Nicholson, son of Mr and Mrs Donk de Nichalor, is to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point and be commissioned as second lieutenant upon graduation. Nicholson led the wrestling team and was active in the Spanish club and Catholic choir. He attended State College and was employed by Kay-Dee Teed Company in Souv City.

Father AW Behrens officiates as Gehlen High School conducts its annual graduation on Sunday June 3 at 5 00 pm. The program includes Gehlen Senior Band Proccessional with Mrs Cora Crowles, National Anthem, hymn On This Day Be Thy Gal, Glee Club, an address by Father Gerald Kelly, diploma awards by Father Behrens, interludes by Mrs Crowley, benediction, and a closing song You’ll Never Walk Alone by the Girls Glee Club. The graduating class lists many students including Karol Helletta Bona, Mary Ann Sazmini, Patricia Gengler, Margant Gengler, Kathy Phipps, Donna Decema, and Joseph Ummins, among numerous others.
