Outdoor graduation marked Le Mars High School fifty-first class of ninety-one with an outdoor ceremony at New Deal Municipal Park. About 1600 people attended the program as seniors in cap and gown processed to Handel Largo, with performances by the band, a boy’s tlee club, and solos. Reverend Harold Becker from Boise delivered the keynote on “Let’s Get on the Ball,” urging open attitude, growth, and dedication for national progress.

Clay county court heard extradition proceedings against George L. Hart of Le Marska who is sought by Nebraska authorities on first degree arson charges for burning a shop and dwelling in Ogakata. Chris W Hahn of Hinton dies in a Sioux City hospital on May 31 1936 after a cerebral hemorrhage. Born July 6 1896 near Hinton he married Amelia Arndt April 26 1927 in Manton. Funeral June 2 at Trinity Lutheran church near Hinton with Rev L W Heideman officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Surviving are widow Amelia a daughter Mrs Darwin Richards his mother Mrs AF Haglon four sisters Mrs Ralph Schindel and a granddaughter Christie Richans all of Harton. Henry Hastert obituary highlights theater manager life

Henry Hastert, a former Le Mars resident and brother of Alisalee Tene Shelf, died May 31 at Newport Beach California after a heat attack. Spink Akron road survey and joint highway plan announced

South Dakota State Highway Department completed a survey of the Spink to Akron route from Highway 77 to the Alcester road and drafted plans for a new highway and structures. Contracts are expected this summer for the cost shared by Union County and the state with federal funds. The joint project includes right of way, two asphalt lanes, ten feet of shoulder, and eventual incorporation into the state system. Pedestrians in Le Mars Friday night complained of juvenile rowdyism on the sidewalk between the First National Bank and Royal Theatre. Two boys about 13 or 14 rode bicycles at high speed threatening pedestrians including women with small children.
