Le Mars Throwaway Advertising Debate Reignites
A discussion about producing a new Le Mars throwaway paper notes cheaper offset production than regular papers and potential advertiser benefits. The Globe-Post previously printed the Free Throw with 16500 copies, mailed at 23 cents per inch of type, proving mailable reach but unclear returns. Proponents argue a 100 percent circulation claim for ads, while critics fear readers won’t notice or read the inserts and question feasibility. A revival would be titled Le Mars Reminder or Le Mar Shopper with caution about branding.

At Tuesday courthouse meeting a small group approved the district except for a 160 acre gym owned by George Matthiesen in Section 3 Johnson township. Matthiesen filed a written objection. A legal notice will run in Akron Register next Thursday as legally required. An election date will be set within the legal finals with a public hearing on the proposed district forming Akron Community School by July 1.
