Elopement Threat Leads to Police Stop near St James
In St James Minnesota a man John C. Lamb 27 and a woman from Hinton Iowa were stopped after a note asked police to be called. Lamb claimed they planned to wed but cooling off rules forced a return to Iowa. The girl denied engagement and said Lamb abducted her with a revolver. No charges filed and she was released to her parents. Lamb remained jailed in St James.

Jim Knapp, 24, Merrill, escaped injury when his 1939 Chevrolet left the road about 2 a.m. Sunday six miles west and 144 south of Merril on new Highway 7 and struck an embankment. The car was towed to Stous Brothers Garage and was totally demolished, sheriff's officers said.

Collision Damages Two Cars In May Sunday Incident
A 1953 Ford driven by Harlan Ketterling of Westmar college and a 1954 Plymouth driven by Alvin Rempfer of Le Mars collided at 10 30 a m Sunday May 7 at first avenue and first street southwest. Damages were to the left front of the Ford and right front of the Plymouth. The accident was reported at the mayor s office. Accident leaves Le Mars man with punctured lung
Oscar Schulz Jr 24 of Le Mars remained in poor condition at St Joseph's Mercy hospital after a Sunday morning crash on highway 75 near Nep tune. His Oldsmobile hit a bridge abutment, tearing a fender and bumper, then landed on the road side. Schulz suffered chest injuries and a punctured lung. he was evacuated to Sioux City for treatment and was conscious. Investigating truckers said Schulz had left a restaurant ahead of them and the wreck occurred around 3:30 a.m. The car was towed to Hinton after the collision.
