Amid three weeks remaining in the 1952-53 school year Le Mats High outlines its seventy second annual commencement. Activities include Class Day May 21, Baccalaureate May 24, and Commencement May 29 at New Deal Park with Dr. Harlan Hagman as speaker and L. C. O'Toole presenting diplomas. Ninety two seniors are named.

Toastmasters Meet in Le Mars Under Frank Lee Leadership

The Toastmasters of Le Mars held their first formal meeting Wednesday night led by President Frank Lee after a prior gathering four weeks earlier with Sioux City visitors. Speakers included Clayton Christiansen Wellix Harms and Lee with Dr W Rozeboom guiding rapid table topics and Wayne Townsend delivering the opening talk.

Paving Contracts Awarded for Kingsley Le Mars Links

The Hallett Construction Co. of Fairmont Minnesota won two paving contracts in the state highway plan. One covers two miles east of Kingsley for 70,830.03 dollars and the other covers two and a half miles at Le Mars for 94,740.80 dollars. Start date May 25 is tentatively set with slight leeway.

Obituary for Mrs. Thomas J. Boland of Le Mars

Mrs. Boland former Le Mars resident died in Portland Maine on Wednesday evening. Funeral services are planned for Friday. Survived by three children. Obituary appears in Monday's paper.

Dr Null in Texas seeks news from Minnesota friends

Dr Null formerly Hawarden physician now lives at 3403 Avenue in Galveston Texas with daughter Mrs Lois Gregory. He is slowly improving from recent illness and would like to hear from friends. Nine Weeks Grading Period Adopted Here

Le Mars Public Schools will operate on four nine weeks grading and reporting periods next year, announced Superintendent Harvey M. Kluckhohn. The board approved the new system by a four to one vote after parental support in a weekend poll, following faculty approval. Mr and Mrs B Roddy were guests last Thursday at the Conover home.

Mayors seal approves beer permit and ordinance passage

At a regular city council meeting in City Hall on Tuesday May 5 Mayor Long presided. Bernard H Mohan received grant for a beer permit and the treasurer’s official bond was approved. Ordinance 324 on lighting heating and related costs was read passed and adopted. Chief Fay Terpenning and Martin Wanderscheid spoke to the council as bills were allowed and the meeting adjourned. Snowfence Burned Near Remsen Under Investigation

Sheriff Frank Scholer is investigating a snowfence fire near Remsen. At about 11 18 Wednesday night Superintendent R B Brown of Akrot high school saw youths by a snow fence stored near Traveller Motel. He alerted Remsen fire department which saved all but ten rolls of the 500 to 600 rolls stored there.
