Inoculations For Typhoid Continuing In Hinton Le Mars Centers
Typhoid inoculations continue at Hinton and Le Mars centers on Wednesdays and Thursdays, administering third and fourth shots. Some first timers will come to Sacred Heart hospital Thursday July 2 from 6 30 to 8 p.m. Vaccine is free from the State Department of Health. County Nurse Clara Faber leads setup, equipment, and volunteers from the Red Cross. Many flood victims, utilities and highway workers, and neighbors have registered and received shots. Registered nurses include H A Mackendie, Mary Kemper, and several Mrs. Fisch, Tomson, Tucker, Frank, and Frank Becker. Martyn Brehm and Wendall Downing aided. Wendall, a medical student, assisted with shots. Marilyn helped with registration. Responding to material requests, layette supplies and bedding donations have come in. furniture offers are matched with needy families. Disaster workers plan to finish by week’s end and then report to the county advisory committee on case handling.

Henry A. Meyer dies after six month illness at 56
Henry A. Meyer 56 of Hinton died Friday after a six month illness. Funeral services were Sunday at 1 pm at Manning-O'Toole funeral home with Rev. A H Janke of St Paul Lutheran Church officiating and burial at Coleridge Nebraska. Born September 30 1896 in Carroll Nebraska he lived in Wayne Nebraska before moving to Hinton about 18 years ago. He worked with livestock commission firms. Survivors include his father Carl of Grants Pass Oregon five brothers and five sisters. A brother Rudolph was killed in action in World War II and his mother Annie died in 1944.

City Requests $6,000 For Flood Cleanup Job
The city through Acting Mayor P A Vander Meer seeks 6000 from a state fund for flood damage repairs to city property. Army engineers must approve, with General Tandy's representative in Le Mars recent, noting the New Deal park lakes and muddy water. Damage estimates total about 6850 for the New Deal park and dump, but 6000 would satisfy. Park board member Stanley Post said July 13 remains target for opening of the swimming pool after approvals. A sanitary health official from Spencer inspected plans. groundwater dilution helps but pumps delay work. The mud will be removed, beaches exposed, and erosion control on the north bank addressed by backfilling with soil and planting bromegrass. Pump parts delayed, hindering complete cleaning until a larger pump is in operation.

A Monday Hawarden gasoline blaze at the French Oil Co bulk station burned for about 43 minutes after a spark from a pump sparked a fire. Le Mars Man Albert Determan Hospitalized After Collision
Albert Determan of Le Mars was hospitalized last week Thursday after a collision a mile west of Orange City. Determan suffered a fractured arm in the crash between his 1949 Ford station wagon and Charles Kleinhesselink’s 1947 Chevrolet, which left total vehicle damage of about 450 dollars. Kleinhesselink escaped injury.
