Delegates Attend National FHA Convention in Columbus Ohio

Carleen Beaune state projects chairman and Le Mars FHA local president attends the fourth National Convention of Future Homemakers of America in Columbus July 3 to 8 with Sharon Hall and Edith Johnson, joining Sheldon and Aurelia delegates in Des Moines on July 1. The program centers on Homes for America's Future with meetings on understanding families and community material. A chartered bus will carry delegates from Des Moines to Columbus, culminating in a Saturday banquet.

Local Man James Gannon Earns Medical Degree with Distinction

James Gannon, son of Leo Gannon and Will and Mrs. Keough of Spencer, graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in Iowa City on June 12 with honors. A Milford native born in 1922, he served as a fighter pilot in the air force, earning several bravery medals off Guan and Japanese coasts, and was discharged as a lieutenant. He joined Phi Beta Kappa in 1951 and is now interning at General Hospital in Kansas City Kansas.

Plymouth county 4-H enrollment for 1953 highlights more beef projects with 192 members feeding 347 baby beeves, up from 178 members and 309 beeves last year. Swine projects decline, dairy stays similar, crops rise sharply with 161 acres under record. Eight boys feed 49 Junior Feeders, and 31 market lambs appear among eight youths.

Remsen Native Frank Kaiser Dies in Muenster Texas

Frank Kaiser, 63, a former Remsen resident and real estate man, died Monday in Muenster Texas after years with a heart condition. He married Frances Hamman in Remsen. They left 35 years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Muenster. A son Cleophas of Muenster survives along with several sisters. He was a brother of the late John F. Kaiser and brother-in-law of Katherine Kaiser of Le Mars.

Nine Plymouth county 4-H boys attended the annual 4-H Short Course at Iowa State College Campuses in Ames June 23 to 25. Obituary: Louis Noethe of Alton Dies at 85

Louis Noethe 85 of Alton died Tuesday after a 50 year residence there. Born November 19, 1867 in New Vienna Iowa he married SusAn Haupert in Alton April 28, 1903 and farmed before retiring. He served on the Stour County Board of Supervisors. Funeral at St Marys Alton Friday 9 30 a m burial in church cemetery. Survivors include his widow and several daughters and sisters.

Widening Of Plymouth St. Pay Plan Discussed

Mayor pro tem C. G. Vandermeer and city council members today debated widening Plymouth Street from Bowers clothing store to the Federal Loan Association corner. The north sidewalk now 12 feet could be narrowed to 9 feet to allow more parking and driving space. If feasible the project may extend to the Union hotel corner, but no official council action has been taken.

Farewell Sermon for Rev Meyer at St Paul Lutheran

Rev Gustav Meyer, longtime pastor of St Paul Lutheran in Johnson Sp, preached a farewell sermon to a large gathering of members and former members on June 28. An evening reception featured toasts by Ben Von Hagel, with musical readings by Marion and Lester Von Hagel and others. The congregation presented a substantial purse to Meyer and a gift to Mrs Meyer for her thirty years of service including nursery care, Christmas and Children’s Day programs, choirs, and organ work.
