Plymouth County Red Cross sets up two registration centers in Hinton and Le Mars to aid flood victims. Twenty plus homes flooded in Hinton. other damaged homes in Brunsville, Seney, Lee and farms in Floyd. Delay halts work on New Deal pool pumping

Stanley Post said on Thursday a large 8 inch pump failed delaying pumping for two days. With one pump down the pool progress slowed though other pump could run at full capacity. Christensen Harris Wedding Vows In Central Baptist Church

Miss Barbara Ann Christensen and Horace Floyd Harris exchanged vows Thursday evening at Central Baptist Church with Rev. R. Pe. Eronigewee presiding. Preacher's Kids Lease Summer Stand on West Plymouth

Rev. B. H. Reece announced his daughters Naomi and Irene will operate the former Black and White refreshment stand on West Plymouth Street this summer with a grand opening set for Saturday June 27. The stand will offer pop ice cream malts sodas and fresh breaded milk. They have not chosen a final name but are considering P. K. Stand for Preachers Kids. Jack Edwards ran the business last year.

Aid Sought for Park Repairs at City Conference

Gov Win. 5. Bendsley announced a strong chance of city funding for New Deal Municipal park repairs. A special fund of 1,000,000 may be used for repairs and rebuilding public works. Burton Dull spoke with local officials including Mayor VanderMeer and Budd Duvall about a grant or loan. A letter to Central Feet C, Tandy, was sent and a response is awaited.

Marquis Rites Held For Frank J Marquis 82

Funeral services for Frank J Marquis 82 who died Wednesday were held at the Nelson funeral home at 10 a m Saturday. Burial was in Amberest cemetery. He was born in La Plata Missouri April 6 1871 and moved to Marcus in 1900 settling on a farm nearby. He married Eda Raun in 1901. she died in 1934. Survivors include three sons Matt Los Angeles Vance Denver Joe Marcus and two sisters Mrs Bless Barrett and Mrs Irene Barney Chicago. Family visitors from Lake Fregs Minnesota and Sions City spent the weekend with Mrs T M Harm.

Slow To Rebuild and More Trackage

Frank Fiedler mayor at Oyens said the county bridge south of Oyens did not go out in the flood two weeks ago but the south edge was undermined leaving a 35 ft hole to be filled. Mauer Construction filled the hole with 540 loads of dirt. road reopened by Wednesday noon. He recalled prior floods in 1892 and 1926 with severe bridge losses and cautionary stories of residents rushing to safety.

Funeral services for Elmer Dugan in Kingsley Iowa

Elmer Dugan 58 lifetime Kingsley resident died at a Des Moines hospital after a heart attack. Services were Saturday at St Michael’s Church with Henry Janse officiating. Burial at the parish cemetery under Dickinson Funeral Home and Nash Post American Legion. Survived by widow, son James of Sheldon, daughter Mrs Rex Weinreich of Kingsley, five brothers Leo Leonard Tom Ray Gene, sister Mrs Orlo Shanks of Aurelia and seven grandchildren.
