Preacher's Kids Lease Summer Stand on West Plymouth
Rev. B. H. Reece announced his daughters Naomi and Irene will operate the former Black and White refreshment stand on West Plymouth Street this summer with a grand opening set for Saturday June 27. The stand will offer pop ice cream malts sodas and fresh breaded milk. They have not chosen a final name but are considering P. K. Stand for Preachers Kids. Jack Edwards ran the business last year.

Marquis Rites Held For Frank J Marquis 82
Funeral services for Frank J Marquis 82 who died Wednesday were held at the Nelson funeral home at 10 a m Saturday. Burial was in Amberest cemetery. He was born in La Plata Missouri April 6 1871 and moved to Marcus in 1900 settling on a farm nearby. He married Eda Raun in 1901. she died in 1934. Survivors include three sons Matt Los Angeles Vance Denver Joe Marcus and two sisters Mrs Bless Barrett and Mrs Irene Barney Chicago. Family visitors from Lake Fregs Minnesota and Sions City spent the weekend with Mrs T M Harm.

Slow To Rebuild and More Trackage
Frank Fiedler mayor at Oyens said the county bridge south of Oyens did not go out in the flood two weeks ago but the south edge was undermined leaving a 35 ft hole to be filled. Mauer Construction filled the hole with 540 loads of dirt. road reopened by Wednesday noon. He recalled prior floods in 1892 and 1926 with severe bridge losses and cautionary stories of residents rushing to safety.
