Neighbors near Neptune report fresh tracks and a second growling wolf after a wolf killed last week. Observers note dark almost black hair and curled fur, with tracks side by side suggesting a pair. Farmers report no conclusive livestock losses, though seven piglets are missing on one farm.

Lloyd Caulking of Northwest Iowa Power Coop, based in Le Mars, announced bids for the 69 KV line will be received until June 26. The first 68 miles to be installed this year, with subsequent installments by August and October, aiming for 200 miles completed by year end. Poles stockpiled in Merrill and Hawarden, with flood damage noted at Hawarden but poles recovered. After the June 29 board meeting, a new contractor will start tree clearing for the 68 mile section. Mrs A Levins died at her Clear Lake home on Monday June 15, 1953. Funeral services were held Thursday June 18 at 9:30 pm at Clear Lake. remains were taken to Wiltgen Ledthe funeral home in Le Maistre? where viewing occurred between 1 and 4 pm. Burial was in St Marys cemetery at René.

The Kanago farm suffered damage and a hospital tent was used for Glen Kanaza after a dangerous asthma attack. Neighbors assisted by gathering debris and securing aid as untethered infrastructure showed the storm’s impact.
Plymouth county erosion damages threaten topsoil as conservationist John Madds advocates terracing and demonstration farms. He warns that replacing inches of soil takes 3,000 to 6,000 years and urges quick action to protect remaining land from further loss.
Scientists from the soil conservation service led by Gene Becker measured soil loss across corn fields after the June 7 rain. They estimate an 1.278 percent mile long erosion with no guessing, stating the value loss could reach over 21 million dollars for corn land in Plymouth county alone. Mr. Madd notes the true cost spans future crops and land value, not just immediate damages.
On Monday evening a small twister was seen by college students west of Le Mars as temperatures fell rapidly. They did not think it touched down enough to cause damage. Mrs Don How near Le Mars said strong wind blew a steel corn crib into a field and no grain elevator remained twisted. Farther west, fields showed signs of light damage and a heavier cattle haze.
Mrs C W Pitts announces the engagement of her daughter Hester Ann Pitts of Kalamazoo Michigan to Lowth Paul Newton of Kalamazoo. They plan to marry Saturday August 5 in Le Mars. Miss Pitts directs YWCA Teen-Age program in Kalamazoo and previously worked at the Sioux City YWCA. Newton a Kalamazoo River Improvement Co. employee and MS chemical engineer candidate, son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Newton of Auburn Maine. He studied at Western Michigan College and the University of Maine. Guests include Major and Mrs G L Alderman and Mrs Pat Powers Becky of Junction City Kansas. Mrs Alderman is sister of Mrs Robert Lake. H W Ragar and son Guy visit the Kass home.
