A Friday night tornado near Plymouth struck the Roy DeBoer farm seven miles west and two north of Le Mars, tearing chimneys and barn sections, lifting roof, and causing extensive farm damage. The storm moved northeast, damaging sheds and a windmill at several farms while delaying field work due to mud and washed terraces. No injuries reported at DeBoer home. livestock largely unhurt. Perry Creek flood danger subsided as terraces held.

Three car accidents occurred Saturday afternoon near the area during Decoration Day. One involved a Minnesota 1959 Chevrolet Station wagon and a Cherokee driven car, causing $400 damage to the station wagon. Mrs. Johnson was treated as an outpatient at Sacred Heart hospital. A separate chain-reaction crash near Oyens involved multiple cars but no injuries, with James Worth fined for following too close. An additional crash on Highway 3 near the Oyens corner had no reported injuries. An evening Mass was announced for St. James Church Friday at 7:30 p.m.
