The Gehlen School closes Friday May 30 ahead of commencements at Gehlen Auditorium Sunday May 31 at 8 p.m. Bishop Erubert will deliver the commencement address. Top graduates include Sue Hatter Sondra Schorg Georgeanne Foxen Lynn Neubel Jerry Kelly Evelyn Vanderke Lavely Mildred Han Flynn Nemmers Katee Gatto Tim O’Toole and others.

Mrs. Jon J. Kemper of Alton announces a recital presented by her pupils from piano valve and organ with duets and accordion. The program at St Marys Hall Alton Monday evening June Lot 8 is open to the public. Read list of Alton and out of town students and two ushers.
The Social Security Administration announces that disabled workers' families may receive benefits. Sioux City district manager Jobo Ro Goldman cites changes allowing wives and children to draw monthly payments under rules similar to dependents of retired workers. An official from the Sioux City district office will be at Le Mars Court House on Thursday, June 18, from 9 a.m.
Firefighters from Le Mars and Struble responded to a blaze at the Lou Toel farm five miles north and west of Mars before six in the morning. Red Mann said Mr Toel saw smoke from the barn and used a garden hose to extinguish the fire, burning a small hole in the wall but leaving the cause undetermined.
The America Belles held a May 23 1959 meeting at Stanley Heurty's home. Rose Anna Kurtzhals chaired with no old business. New business covered a planned tour and the Dade Projects. A talk on design and fabrics was given by Karol Hevents and a demonstration on simple tailoring by Bery Peters and Dianne Brunken. Refreshments served by Mrs Hewertz and daughter. Reporter Donna Brunken and others attended as relatives.

Baccalaureate is planned for Calvary EUB Church at 8 pm, plus prenuptial events for Evalyn Petersen and William Sievers. Names include Mr and Mrs Alvin Petersen, Mr and Mrs Harry Cannon, Leila Huebsch, and many others in social gatherings. Collected items mention commencement at Stephens College in Missouri with Mary Jean receiving an associate in arts degree among 600 candidatesakse.

The Kingsley Jubilee marks the town’s seventy fifth anniversary June 11 and 12 with $10,000 spent on entertainment. Reverette Ro Mator says the events thank Siouxland neighbors for 75 years as part of the jubilee.
Victor Hansen of Chicago writes to Globe-Post alleging Hinton Colorado police target out of town drivers. He claims a 60-65 mph cruiser was ticketed for 35-40 mph in a new car and questions fairness and warnings for nonresidents. He urges readers to be aware and calls for review of the town’s traffic enforcement.

Wheat producers in Plymouth County face 1959 allotment deadlines for disposing of excess wheat. Winter growers must act by June, spring by June 10, via pasturing or cutting for hay or silage. After deadlines, disposal only by plowing under or incorporating into soil. ASC office in Le Mars can provide details.
