The Gehlen School closes Friday May 30 ahead of commencements at Gehlen Auditorium Sunday May 31 at 8 p.m. Bishop Erubert will deliver the commencement address. Disabled Workers Family Benefits Now Paid to Spouses and Children

The Social Security Administration announces that disabled workers' families may receive benefits. Sioux City district manager Jobo Ro Goldman cites changes allowing wives and children to draw monthly payments under rules similar to dependents of retired workers. Barn Fire Near Le Mars Quelled Early Tuesday

Firefighters from Le Mars and Struble responded to a blaze at the Lou Toel farm five miles north and west of Mars before six in the morning. Red Mann said Mr Toel saw smoke from the barn and used a garden hose to extinguish the fire, burning a small hole in the wall but leaving the cause undetermined.

Meeting of American Belles at Stanley Heurty home

The America Belles held a May 23 1959 meeting at Stanley Heurty's home. Rose Anna Kurtzhals chaired with no old business. New business covered a planned tour and the Dade Projects. A talk on design and fabrics was given by Karol Hevents and a demonstration on simple tailoring by Bery Peters and Dianne Brunken. Refreshments served by Mrs Hewertz and daughter. Reporter Donna Brunken and others attended as relatives.

Westmar College President Hosts Social and Graduation Events

Kingsley Jubileers Plan Regional Jubilee Events

The Kingsley Boosters head to Le Mars and Aion at 2:30 p.m. on June 4 with the Kingsley High School Band, dancers, and a speaker plus free gifts for children. The Kingsley Jubilee marks the town’s seventy fifth anniversary June 11 and 12 with $10,000 spent on entertainment.
