Sheriff Frank Scholer reports a surge of check forgeries and rubber checks as victims struggle with insufficient funds. Mrs Christina Schut Rites Held In Remsen

Funeral services for Christina Schut 94 oldest Remsen area resident were held Wednesday at St. Pauls Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen. Survivors include sons Herman Remsen and Henry Comfrey Minn. four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Interment was in Remsen Cemetery. Weekend visitors at Dr P A Branchs home included Mr and Mrs Harry Olson of Minneapolis.

Arrest of Parker on aggravated rape charge

Le Mars police arrested Ronald Joseph Parker a 31-year-old colored man employed on a railroad flood damage crew after a radio call. Parker admitted his identity and is held for New Orleans authorities who say he is wanted for aggravated rape and will send a warranting officer to transfer him. Kingsley residents hear that Fballett Construction completed the first paving pole section near Kingsley while crews were laid off Monday. Work resumed last week and finished within the week.
