Plymouth county officials voiced cautious optimism of a quick resolution while considering homicide or manslaughter as possibilities. The frozen, unmarked body of a baby boy prompted officials to urge tips identifying the child or his mother as a pathologist reviews the case in Sioux City.
District Attorney William Sturges released details about the Akron Dump Baby case asking residents for information identifying the mother. He noted the mother was average to small in build and asked informants to contact Plymouth County Sheriff Frank Scholer, promising confidentiality.

Maurice Healy of Hinton announces his daughter Maureen Healy of Sioux City engaged to Arlo Lehr son of Mr and Mrs Erwin Lehr of Sioux City. Maureen works at Maison Lorenzo Beauty Salon Younkers and Arlo is a senior at Morningside College. No wedding date set.

Cy Delaney of Marcus, prominent farmer, moved to Sacred Hewit hospital in LeMars in unconscious condition after a motor scooter accident last Saturday.
Airman Joe J Means son of H E Mercis of LeMars is shown in a photo. He is in basic training at Parks APB California after enlisting in the U S Air Force on November 9 and being sworn in at the Omaha Recruiting Station. He attended Le Mars High School before enlistment.
