The Towa Crop Service reports very dry soil around Le Mars and Primghar, the driest in the state, with 1959 crops relying on rainfall. Funeral services were held for M M Griepenburg 74 a prominent Remsen businessman Wednesday at St Pauls Evangelical Lutheran church with Rev Paul Wuebben officiating Burial was at Reiser Cemetery He had health problems for two years Griepenburg born December 27 1884 in Holle Ostfriesland Germany came to America on a ship and settled near Kingsley He studied at Kingsley high school University of Iowa 1907 and served as school superintendent then studied law at University of Michigan He lived in Remsen since 1913 working in insurance and public service He served as city clerk and on the school board for 27 years Married to Mabel Larson of Sioux City Survivors include his widow two daughters two grandchildren and a brother all in Remsen Le Mars and Minneapolis He was a member of the Masonic Order Abu-Bekr Temple and honored in May 1988 for 50 years in the order.
