Wild car chase ends in crash and arrest in Le Mars

Frank Wilbur Winebrinner, 18, of Fonda Iowa, led police on a high speed chase through Le Mars after stealing a 1953 blue Buick from Branum Oil north of Merrill. The car crashed near 7th Street injuring nothing serious, then Winebrunner surrendered to officers. He admitted prior parole for motor vehicle larceny and, later handed to Sioux City detectives, pled guilty in Woodbury County and received a ten year sentence at Anamosa.

Morse Couple To Celebrate 66th Anniversary At Nursing Home

Harold G. Peck Rites Held For Akron Resident

Funeral services for Harold G. Peck 44 longtime Akron resident who died suddenly after a heart attack will be held at 2 30 p m Thursday at the First Church of Christ Akron. Rev G W Swan will officiate. Burial at Riverside Cemetery under Lewisons funeral home direction. Graveside rites by Masonic Freedom lodges of which Peck was worshipful master. Born October 3 1912 in Sioux City he graduated from Akron High School and was a semiprofessional baseball player in the Sioux City area. He married Velda Lake October 28 1933 at Akron. Surviving widow Velda includes daughter Haraldine Hilliker of Sioux City mother Mrs Hattie Peck of Hawarden a brother Laverne of Hawarden two sisters Mrs Stanley King of Merrillta and Mrs Lloyd Stinton of Akron and a granddaughter.

On Monday February 18, Joseph Richie drove a 1951 Chevrolet on a county road 3 miles east and 17 miles south of Neptune at 9 00 A M when a tire blew out. The car left the road and entered a ditch while traveling south. Front end damages were 100 dollars.

Remsen banker Emery H. Spiecker found dead in Sioux City

Emery H. Spiecker longtime Toy National Bank director and former Remsen banker was found dead Monday morning at the Sioux Apartment hotel in Sioux City. Coroner Dr. Thomas L. Coriden ruled death likely from a heart-related condition. he had suffered hypertension for years. Spiecker, born September 25, 1896 at Remsen, never married and had resided weekends in Sioux City and weekdays in Remsen.
